Recently it was my privilege to spend time in Rwanda with Bella English a writer for The Boston Globe newspaper.  I took photographs to accompany her series of articles on the genocide that took place in that country.  Here is a small sample of the photographs, there are more to come.

018  Mwawini Mazimpaka is HIV positive.  She was very disappointed when she first found out she was infected and with the onset of AIDS refused to take ARVs.  She joined AVVAIS, gained her confidence and started to take ARVs.

021  Madalina Nyirangendahimana is a vulnerable widow accused of killing and stealing during the genocide.  She was imprisoned for 12 years.  Through AVVAIS she has accepted her guilt and has now been released from jail.
